The 3DS isn't like the Wii U which costed Nintendo money, so they'll keep shipping 3DS systems until no orders are placed anymore. For the fiscal year ending March 2019, Nintendo has a forecast of 4m units shipped. That's simply too much to fizzle out to nothing within less than three months. The fiscal year ending March 2020 should be at 1m or less, so the probable discontinuation of the 3DS is going to happen in calendar year 2020. Likely in the first half of 2020.

Agreed, with 4m hardware for this fiscal year thats too much to just call it quits even if the miss their forcast.

They didnt stop shipping DS until annual shipments were down to 130k and Wii when it was 110k.

3DS has at least one more fiscal year before getting discontinued.
