| Borkachev said: About the 20 gig model... I wonder if the problem there was its timing, not its premise. The people who buy a console in the first 6 months are the hardest of the hardcore, especially when you're dealing with $500 or more--these aren't the people who want a stripped down version of the machine. So naturally it was kind of a flop. If that's the case, it means the 20 gig's sales performance at $500 won't predict the 60 gig's performance at that price at all. The audience they'll reach now is the slightly less hardcore group--the ones who still want the most out of their machine, but who aren't willing to put up with the launch price and the weak launch lineup. It also means that Sony might do well to reintroduce the 20 gig at a later date, when the price is lower and the software is more compelling. Maybe even right now. |
These seems reasonable to me.
