I saw a post on resetera from an insider (aquamarine) that indicated that third party sales weren't as strong as people thought. The gist is that pubs were leaving money on the table, but not so much they were stupid for not investing. Bayonetta 2 Wii U was overtracked by like 200K - 300K on like 700K sales. Awful. I put no stock in VGC numbers. Best community ever, though. 

From my understanding though, based on what ZhugeEX has said (he is one of the mods on resetera), it depends on the game. Mature AAA games in general, with the exception of Skyrim, have done poorly. But more family oriented titles, AAA sports, AA Japanese games, AA single player, indies, and third-party titles that can use Nintendo IP have done well enough to warrant more coming (and he expects these will be the types of third-party titles that will largely come to the Switch).
