I think it's a bigger problem that they are late. Having Wolfenstein and Doom on Switch is really cool and i think it's awesome for the people who enjoy those kind of games in handheld-mode, but that isn't really for me because it's not the kind of games i want to play in handheld-mode and i already own them on PS4.
You shouldn't need to justify what buy and don't buy, how you spend your money is entirely up to you

I was close to buying Wolfenstein II on PS4/PC but it came out during a busy time, and I don't mind waiting if it's only half a year and it's not a big release for me.
I have no choice but to get Dragon Quest XI on PS4 because God knows what Square Enix is doing with that, even though it was announced for Switch well in advance. And like many games, I would've just gotten it on PC if I didn't want a physical copy.

Now that I think about it, seems ironic that we're stitting here discussing value for money right after the steam summer sale just took place.

I thought the same thing you did...till I was holding the 60 dollar version in my hand while looking at a 20 dollar version that runs better.  Day and date to at least match pricing would  have made all the difference in the world TBH.
