youre right except youre wrong. its true that we dont know what the next gen will look like, but a few things are for certain. there will always be less demanding online titles such as Fortnite, Rocket League, and Minecraft, that will maintain a core fan base. when (not if) those games get ported to the next gen consoles (including Nintendo) and Sony is the only one that still doesnt have cross play, they wont have their 75+ million user install base to fall back on. i know at least a few people who are currently on the market to buy a console so that they will be able to play these types of games, and Sony not allowing cross play has scared them away from the PS4. so in a few years when its time for companies to start dishing out all they can to entice people to buy their new platform, cross play will be a deciding factor for people.

and now let me just reiterate some points, just for clarity. Nintendo is working on another console currently, as they themselves have stated. it is currently as in the dark as the XB2 or PS5 but it definitely will have the power to play online games, as does the Switch. secondly, Microsoft has opened up several new first party studios that are all currently working on new games, meaning they will have likely be caught up to Sony in terms of exclusives when the the next gen consoles srop
