For me Nintendo just needs to keep delivering great exclusives for Switch, and then get the Switch 2 out hot on the heels of PS5/XB4, with a chipset that can run Gen 9 games at, at least 720p in handheld mode. There is definitly a need for a handheld that can deliver native playback of current games, but for me Switch is just a bit short.

I wonder how much a chipset like that in a tablet form-factor would cost, if it's possible at all? Power draw a is a huge concern, considering the console depends on a battery in portable mode.
