@bold, and why would you think that? In 4-5 weeks with a tiny price point MH Generations sold.

[3DS] Monster Hunter Generations # (Capcom) {2015.11.28} (¥5.800) - 2.521.859

For the entire next year it sold

[3DS] Monster Hunter Generations # (Capcom) {2015.11.28} (¥5.800) - 266.126 / 2.787.985

Mostly of course at the beginning of the year during post holiday boost.

Monster Hunter World on the other hand in 4-5 ish weeks.

[PS4] Monster Hunter: World # - (Capcom) {2018.01.26} (¥8.980) 53,982 85,322 1,890,273

And ~700k digital.

Sales since then :

2, 006, 158 at least as of week 16 and >~150k digital

TLDR: It is performing pretty normal for a MH game, despite the high price point.

Like some others have said, i'd like to see more data from other MH games, pref ones that aren't spinoffs *and* I would like to know what other games were releasing for those games on the same platform, in about the same time period from the PS4 MHW release and now.

It would be pretty unfair either way due to differing release dates so legs will be variable. MH generations still plays like a MH so I don't think it is a spinoff unless MHW is a spinoff too.

MH4 shipped 3.9m in Japan in over 3 months including holiday season, its legs were only shipped 200k in the next 3 months. Similar to MHW legs.

MH4G sold in ~3 months

[3DS] Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate #  {2014.10.11} (¥6.264) 2.345.260 / 2.345.260

MH4G legs in an entire year were

[3DS] Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate # <ACT> (Capcom) {2014.10.11} (¥5.800) - 212.215 / 2.557.475

So again same exact story. MHW legs are pretty much the exact same as other MH releases, if not better.
