I wanted to mention that the idea for a Mario FPS was just something I elaborated on based on supermario128 and RAcCcoonerus's (sp?) ideas in their post above mine.
I do like the idea of a sandbox style game for Mario. The Mario games have always changed it up in approach and it's kept the series fresh and popular.
I'll come up with something better eventually...
