Symbolism of lying maybe. They made a "correction" after the dad told on them which means either they lied about the situation the photo was taken or were wrong about it. The times cover is nonsensical. The girl wasn't being separated from her mom and Trump isn't to blame for it. It's just a convenient club to hit Trump with even though the law was enacted during Clinton's presidency, ignored by Bush, changed during Obama's presidency so the kids are separated from the parents. |
Trump is absolutly to blame for separation at the border. This was a mandate executive order from him. Yes the photo was not of a child who was separated at the border but the image and the administration to mandate all children be separated from their parents is a direct order from the President.
Everyone keep taking about the law was put into place during the Clinton presidency, but what you continue to leave out is that the change made by Trump administration. First, all illegal crossing was a misdemeanor in previous administrations. Even if you read the article this rule was put into place, there wasn't any mandatory rule to remove children from their parents. It was always the discretion of the border official and only if the child was in danger. Because illegal immigration was a misdemeanor during Obama administration, if they caught you, they just released you back over the border. Read up on the catch and release policy. Next read up on the memo Session gave to the southern border mandating everyone is to be detained, child taken and held for criminal processing. Last but not least read up on how now Trump administration just fell back to the catch and release policy during Obama administration. The zero policy is still in place, but now officials are back to what they did before. Meaning, it was always a mandate from Trump administration to take children from their parents because they believe this would be a deterrent.
