No, maybe would work for someone else but thats not point, point is that works for Nintendo. Sony is not going Nintendo way, but they also want to have less time between announcing and releasing games. That really depends from market and business, it's not same for every product and bussines. If Nintendo keep winning in short term constantly (with HW and SW sales), I dont see how can Switch lose war, and Switch is obviously on good path, with HW and SW sales and thats whats more important. What other companies is doing is irrelevant, again, Nintendo obviously has different approach and strategy that works for them, if Nintendo wanted to do same thing like other compaines, they wouldn't released hybrid on first place. Actually SW sales also proves that their strategy works, focus on games that will be out in near future that leads to good SW sales.
At end, all come that you personally don't like Nintendo strategy and how they operating, and you would love they are more like Sony and MS, that very subjective, but objectivly we can say that Nintendo is doing very well with their different approach and different strategy and that they currently don't have any reason to change anything. |
When companies work under the pressure of competition, they need to show people that they have something more than just for the short term. It's as simple as that.
Again, we are talking about a communication strategy. Not HW strategy.
"If Nintendo keep winning in short term constantly (with HW and SW sales)"
You are completely ignoring how they came into this situation.
It's not their communication strategy that's creating the buying impulse, it's the system sellers and the Switch portability, that is creating the impact.
"Actually SW sales also proves that their strategy works, focus on games that will be out in near future that leads to good SW sales."
It's just a coincidence that of the around 300 games, the vast majority are cheap Indie games?
It's easy to create volume when you offer lower price points.
You are right, i think that Nintendo's strategy is lacking and honestly it's hurting them and will so in the future, if they continue this.
Maybe if Nintendo started giving people something more to look forward in the future, maybe they could start stealing customers from Sony and MS and increase their personnal userbase.
Nintendo knows they can afford that type of strategy for now. They have got the games and the system. When those things start losing steam, do you really believe that they won't change?
Why do you think they didn't try this strategy with Wii U? Create a buying impulse with soon to be released games…
It wouldn't work because wanted more than that. Nintendo knew that
