Maybe EG is incompetent like you suggest or maybe they are not contractually allowed to warn users of the restriction: if I were Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft, I wouldn't want users knowing they're about to potentially sabotage their EG account in some way by linking it to my network. I wouldn't warn the user either and EG could do little to influence the messaging I provide to the users of my network.

Of course this issue is only there to begin with because of Sony's policy which contrasts to Nintendo's and Microsoft's.

Money talks bullshit walks, they are even going to make PS4 Forntnite bundle.
