Yes there is, whatever reasons any company has is petty at this point. If Sony had exclusive items and people logged in with their Epic account to claim those items, which are Playstation exclusive items, then Sony doesn't want them being used on other platforms, so denied the use of the epic account on other platforms, petty. Just disable the items if that account is used elsewhere, it can obvious recognise the platform it's on.
This Minecraft thing, you are required to log into your Xbox Live account to cross play on Switch, right? In right mind, Sony said no, why should you log in to a competitors eco-system to play with them when you are already logged into your own and playing the game? Why is that needed? Just let the person who has purchase the game play with their friends without extra log ins? Is this why cross play isn't available between other games (Rocket League etc)? MS are saying you need to log into Xbox Live account you may not have?
Last gen, MS saying no to Cross play and even early on in this gen and the reason why FF14 and SFV isn't on Xbox One, now they changed their mind and are the good guys?
