I'm not using my crystal ball. like i said before 3d mario and smash are always close sales wise, but mario odyssey has taking it to a new level, it has sold like what 10 million in it's first 4-5 months , it's on its way to demolish and 3d mario or smash game before it, so we will have to wait to see if smash can match those sales, as of now its the bigger franchise. 

Smash Bros "Ultimate" will likely do the same so your comment and opinion is moot. Especially since we have no way of knowing what will sell better until 2019 at the earliest. I expect Smash to outsell Odyssey first couple  easily. From the launch months at least. You are clearly in the minority here, thinking 3D Mario is bigger than Smash. If you don't believe me, why not make a poll about it? Prepare to be surprised though.
