Yeah it may be Circuit City only. I also agree that $100 isn't enough if this is a regular price cut. None of the people I know (myself included) who are interested in PS3s are going to buy them till $400 at the earliest... I mean that's obviously just anecdotal but $100 just isn't enough of a cut.

I don't think it's Circuit City only, look at this: http://biz.gamedaily.com/industry/feature/?id=16721. Sony hasn't denied the rumors, they've just said "no comment." Guess that's another $100 lost on every system sold for Sony. That's, what, a $300 loss per system now?

I'm definitely going to look forward to the upcoming VGChartz sales data. The PS3 sales will probably go up for a little while and be back to normal after month. They also just announced today on CNN Money that Microsoft is going to lose a billion dollars thanks to the defective systems. That could ruin any price drop from them. I swear, Microsoft and Sony are worse than Sega was.

Actually Sony reduced the price of its blu-ray component about $100, so the losses per system probably aren't any greater than the Launch data.  I've been seeing alot of "Maybe I should get a PS3 after all" comments browsing around various news forums after this announcement.

I'm going to assume PS3 sales are going up from here, especially with new bomb of software titles and online functionality that Sony has planned.

M$ sales will probably rise too with their increase in cosumer confidence, and if they drop the price too.

If M$ does a price drop too, then I'm going to guess that their losses will be greater this fiscal than Sony with the fact that they are going to have to repair all the consoles and give mass refunds.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
