The issue is not the same.  We are not talking about unaccompanied minors but instead the Zero policy that was enacted by Sessions and Trump.  It seems like every entrant whether seeking asylum or not is getting hit with this policy.  Its like they are saying you are guilty until proven innocent.  What we need to do is get what is actually happening and see how this zero policy is different and enforced compared to previous administrations.

My problem with the whole thing is more on the point that it seem to be put in place for a very dumb reason.  If you read the statements from Session when he instituted this zero policy, they stated they believe it would stop people from coming to America or slow it down.  The reason this was totally stupid because it ignored human nature.  Anyone who is leaving everything behind trying to get to another country with nothing is ready to let the US take their kids, clean them, feed then, give them medical care and a chance for a better life.  If anything this would make people come to the US more than less.  Its like a bunch of rich people thought this crap up and believe it would be successful.

My other issue is that it was put in place to leverage Trump wall.  This is the type of political stupidity you can only do when you have no moral compass.  The reason I say this is because when you make removing kids from their families a political move to fund a wall, you place all those nice Christians who are so loyal to him in a very big bind as they have to fight to make excuses for this policy.  No matter if they law was in place for years, Trump made it so that his administration actually started to enforce it.  The optics on the whole thing is very bad and it will provide more division among his supporters.  Trying to shift the blame to Democrats when they do not have majority in Congress make his administration look desperate.  At the end of the day, the Dems will probably will punt it right back at him since he decided to politicize it and now he will get full flack for it.
