Why do we still look forward to Nintendo's E3 directs?

They dropped the ball last year? Perhaps you didn't like it, but the general consensus was that they had a good showing. When Nintendo messes up, people are going to complain so they know they messed up and hopefully improve. Whether they think E3 is important or not is irrelevant. Delaying games and spending so much time on a single game in what's supposed to be a general direct would be frowned upon no matter when they did it.
