Not to be nit-picky with the quote, but it's hard to tell what Matsuda means when talking about "series."

And you can make two different games that can still be part of the main series, it does not have to be necessarily linear in concept.

Let's Go is as much of a spin-off as is Omega Ruby/Alpha Saphire, or Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, ect. So if one considers those spin-offs, then it is.

It's a remake of Pokémon Yellow. From what I've seen, the only difference gameplay wise is instead of battling wild pokemon, you just catch them like in Pokemon Go.
