Sounds to me like this could still easily be your fault from the overheating. When they fixed it last time, they probably just swapped out the obviously malfunctioning part that kept it from playing. Maybe there was a deeper issue that was missed last time. I can't say for certain, but you can't exactly pin this on the console being defective.

Either way, this is what warranties are for. You should have bought an extended warranty for an extra 50 bucks.

This is another reason I like Nintendo more than Sony. Nintendo's consoles are generally more stable than Sony's. Sony is trying to put expensive and unreliable technology on the market so people get slightly better graphics quality. If you care about graphics, well there's one of your tradeoffs right there.
