Microsoft is planning for the next Xbox console release to arrive in 2020. But what is more interesting, is that Microsoft describes ‘Scarlett’ as a family of devices; meaning we may see multiple pieces of hardware released that year.

Calling it now, we will see a bunch of PCs in a nice case with the Xbox Logo on them. They'll likely use Windows 10 S and each and every game released for Xbox must be available on the Windows Store. I wouldn't be surprised if the next Xbox is just a standard PC but with games with an Xbox Logo sold which you are guaranteed to be able to run with such a machine. If you know what I mean. It would just make perfect sense. Microsoft would be in a way better position to compete with steam with such a model. Millions of console gamers would be coming to the Windows Store, which is practically dead when it comes to gaming right now.

They could also offer compatibility to a whole lot of PC titles. Just about any PC title could come directly to Xbox just by releasing it in the Windows Store. The library for the console would be gigantic after a short amount of time. On top of that users would have access to tons of apps and whatnot. I'm almost sure Microsoft will go down that route. The only real downside is that you won't have a reason to buy a new Xbox if you already own a beefy PC. But I don't think that's a biggie for Microsoft.
