That's sounds like an excuse to explain away the huge discrepancy between console and handheld sales that show there actually aren't a whole lot of loyal fans. I asked for Switch numbers specifically which is a hybrid, but your console numbers clearly dont apply so we'll go with your handheld ones, cause apparently 40-50 million is a small number. 3DS did more than that, and Switch is outpacing the 3DS without a massive price cut and value saving bundle, so I'd say you can go ahead stop pretending to know people you don't now. Doesn't change my point though, that your claims are not based on fact or proof, only "because I say so!" logic which works both ways. Guess instead of showing you what's wrong with your thinking I'll just straight up tell ya. To say Nintendo games only appeal to Nintendo fans makes no sense as people aren't born Nintendo fans. That Nintendo fans even exist means Nintendo games have to be able to appeal to non-fans in the first place. Also, strange you'd say the issue is that Nintendo doesn't announce their games sooner while saying Nintendo games don't appeal to non-fans. As if when you announce a game somehow affects how appealing it is, but I digress! | 3DS numbers make sense as kids for Pokemon and people who like portable systems. 3DS numbers are inflated a tad anyway. I know a few hardcore collectors like myself who have bought several limited edition versions. I think I am at 15 myself, lost track. Off course people are not born Nintendo fans. They start of as kids through their parents. Then as they mature they vanish or stay. Most kids vanish these days as Nintendo is not the cool console anymore because it hasn't got the cool third party games everyone is playing. Most hardcore Nintendo fans (the ones I am referring to who buy both) would be in their late 20s to mid 30s, mostly male who grew up with a NES/SNES. These are the most loyal ones left and don't give a fuck about status of being the cool kid as they matured beyond that.

A lot of text, yet none of that really has anything to do with the argument. I'll assume you understand that Nintendo games appeal to the general gamer but just don't want to outright admit it. Same with not needing to reveal most games years in advance to have a successful console.
