It just goes to show that leaving one of the markets to a later date, isn't always going to net you a big return.

As they say "time is money".

I don't think ever helps improve sales to hold one version 18 months... some japanese titles X360 had as time exclusives and TR on X1 got outsold by the PS port but mainly because of the userbase being much bigger for those titles, but certainly costed a lot of sales... now when the opposite happens I can see very few sales at best.

That is why me and a lot of others on the TR exclusivity were talking about how mcuh did MS paid for the timed exclusive because we knew a lot of sales would be lost. And considering their complains on 5M not breaking even and that X1 would be much lower than PS4, it must have been quite the payment.

Holding it doesn't really benefit anyone, not even the company that made the game. Sure with temp exclusivity contracts, the game producer gets a limited sack of cash, but that is always going to be a defined supply, which will likely be outdone by the sales of other platforms combined at the end of the day.

The thing is, those companies really shouldn't be pulling temp exclusivity deals at all these days. It's just not healthy and it creates discordance between user bases and their desire to support those games.

Whenever I see a timed exclusive deal, I feel like I want to support that company in the least way possible (like a deep discount sale for example). That's one effect that deal can have on some folk out there.

I don't think any side should ever be allowed to pull and get away with timed deals. Not for the winner of the gen, not for the loser or middle man either.
