Well they are making both a massive single player world, hand crafted at that, as well as working on an even bigger world for the MMO side of the game. All of this at the same time of course, as well as other aspects ranging from first person to spaceship combat, as well as the game's economy, mechanics etc. It's not some simple and easy to make game.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
