The $300 360 is selling worse not because people want to pay a higher price (they don't, which is why the PS3 is having so much trouble), but because when you add in the extra costs needed for the $300 console to be on par with the $400, it actually ends up costing more. In short, the $400 is a much better bargain. If they cut that to $300 (and either drop the $300 and knock it down to $200) the 360 will likely sell MUCH better.
As for the exclusives, simply having exclusives means little. You have to have exclusives tha people want and are actually pretty good. Metion Lair or Folklore to the average gamer - the ones not on this messageboard- and all you'll get is a blank stare. NBA 08 is one sports title. I'm pretty sure the other consoles will have NBA titles too. The only "given" on your list is MGS4, which isn't coming out this year, and most people expect will arrive on the 360.
And if casual gamers like new things, why didn't they toss the PS2 over the side when the Xbox and GCN launched?
