Pedophiles haven't necessarily abused a child, pedophilia refers to their attractions/urges, a sex offender is one who actually has committed the act.

Someone who suffers from pedophilia is mentally ill. So if they have never gave into those urges we should help them. So that they never will give into these urges. 

But would you prefer that someone who is pedophile and has raped a child or produced child pornography is sentenced to jail and could get released back into society. Or would you rather see we would wipe those who comitted such a despicable crime 6 feet deep below the grond.
