I could have sworn we already had this talk. During the presentation for the quarter ending Sept 30, Nintendo said global sell-through was over 7 million. Nintendo gave a press release in mid-Dec saying sell-through was over 10 million. During the presentation for the quarter ending Dec 31, Nintendo said sell-through had surpassed 13 million excluding some regions such as Latin America & parts of Asia.
They gave 3 separate sell-through updates in a 3 month period. |
I went looking..
Found it, thank you for that. So lets say 13.2 million by January? Best thing to do from now is wait until Nintendo announce 20 million sold through, which they likely will. At that point the Switch will have sold 6.8-ish million units in 2018. Same as when PS4 sells 80 million it will have sold 6.4 million in 2018. According to VGChartz the PS4 is already on track to do that early into June. But at the current rate Switch is going it's looking like it might take until August or longer. This is of course if VGChartz isn't overtracking PS4 and undertracking Switch, which is possible. Sell through announcements are the only real way to know.
