Yeah, I believe that you can get either Xbox gift cards or Microsoft gift cards, and the MS ones work for both digital games though Xbox and at the Microsoft Store for physical items. You can also get Amazon gift cards, in the US at least. 

It looks like you can't get Amazon gift cards here, but I know now to go with a Microsoft Store card since that way I can get physical copies of the games XD
