Not randomly. It's the brand name. Gamers assume Playstation has all the games and developers assume PS has all the gamers. So these assumptions bolster each other and become true.

This is largely true, but one does have to give it to Sony that at some point in the not so distant past, they did just about enough (more than Microsoft) to create this perception in people's minds.
