I'm wondering if it has to do with manufacturing costs. Someone posted a Sony earning graph up on Resetera the other day (can't find it now) that showed manufacturing costs of the PS4 have risen. That could explain why Sony haven't yet reduced the price and it could also be why Amazon have a problem. Perhaps Sony are selling their console to retailers at a slightly higher price while simultaneously insisting it remains the same price for the customer.

I mean, yeah, Walmart and GameStop would get priority over Amazon, they are both bigger for Sony.  So if stock was an issue Amazon would feel it first.  And Sony's manufacturing costs may factor in.

But my money is still on Amazon trying to pressure sony into sweetening the deal with regards to their discount.  They've done it before and I would not be shocked if they did it again.
