The fact that these garbage standpoints are in this movie (and confirmed to be in there by the writer, so please stop with the "no it isn't, watch it" bullshit) means that I don't want to watch it. Keep your Marxist propaganda to yourself.

I feel like this identity politics thing is more like what Jon Kasdan thinks about Lando than what was actually in the film. I say this because I didn't see any indication of him being pan-sexual in the film itself. Regardless, I respect your decision to not watch it.

Well, the actor came out and said he supports Lando being pansexual. I don't know the original actors thoughts on it.

Reminds me of Star Trek though when they made Sulu gay in the new movies. Takei, who played Sulu from 1966 through 1991 in the original TV series and subsequent six movies, told The Hollywood Reporter that he thought the revelation that Sulu (John Cho) was gay was "really unfortunate." The actor, who is himself gay, said he had urged the filmmakers to "be imaginative and create a character who has a history of being gay, rather than Sulu, who had been straight all this time, suddenly being revealed as being closeted."

I'm of the same mind. Create new characters versus changing an iconic character. I feel like I saw something about making Superman Chinese at some point. That Chinese Superman would not be Superman. Or the black Spiderman. I don't care how good Miles is, he is not the Spiderman. Peter Parker is. Miles is like the many characters who took on the mantle of Captain America. Steve Rogers though is forever the only true Captain.

It's cheap and lazy to just change something like making a character a new race, or sex or sexuality or new person entirely onto an iconic character. You want a good black superhero, make a new one. Don't make Tony Stark black. There are no good black superheroes you say? Black Panther, Cyborg, Storm, John Stewart, Blade and many others would like to have words with you.
