2021 is definitely happening for the console, but I do speculate that this one will sport nice performance enhancements from the previous one. They're not gonna ditch the current architecture; they're very comfortable with it.
They could oomph the RAM up to 32GB GDDR5. This looks too high, but all for futureproofing.
HDD capacity is really important by this point. If digital is becoming a thing right now, then higher capacity HDDs are essential. Maybe 2TB HDDs would suffice, accompanied by more expensive SKUs with 4TB.
Despite digital media taking over, I still do think Blu-ray is going to stay for a little while. Higher capacity discs? Probably. Faster BD drive? Probably not. But anything to install those huge games quickly.
I'm guessing the chipsets would not change that much. Maybe an enhanced graphics card in comparison to the PS4. I do think the leap in graphics won't be massive, but enough to surpass the X1X.
In the end, this new system will most likely come with changes that would deem it slightly conservative when compared to the previous one. This is pure speculation.
