Link to this info please....I’d find it hard to believe the same studio that released infinity war ( Disney’s obvious big film for the year)had solo, a spin off movie plagued with troubles, as their  most anticipated movie of the year  but If you say so. The Disney reps have often stated they don’t expect their Star Wars tie in movies (which solo was) to do anywhere near the business the main ‘episodes’ do so seriously where you get that info from?

No fucking way could any exec actually watch all three movies and conclude Solo was their "big" film for 2018 over IW and Black Panther. This is a bland film that only hardcore Star Wars nerds will really get into. Disney shat this out with minimal marketing and sent it to die in the May release spot.

Well, they did. 1. May is a wonderful release date. You know, first week of summer and all. 2. Black Panther is not a popular or well known character. Unlike Solo.

So, did it flop?

Bigly. Came out worse than their worst case scenario after revising their worst case scenario down multiple times

Saw it today first star wars I´ve seen since Episode 1 I think. Didn´t see 7,8 or Rogue one. I enjoyed it it was a fun return to star wars for me. I was expecting this to be a mess but now I kinda hope they make another solo movie.

They won't.

Disney’s worldwide distribution chief Dave Hollis, who is exiting the studio this week after 17 years, allowed that expectations were certainly higher on the movie and said Mouse execs will “spend a lot of time digging into every question in every market to get the answer” to why Solo so under-performed. “We came into the beginning of the year with this one of the most anticipated films. We gotta spend some time looking at the exits and get a better handle on all the questions.”
