Marvel has a much larger cast of established characters, whereas Star Wars has historically been focused on a central plotline rather than Marvel which does not have a main character.

I had absolutely no idea who the Guardians of the Galaxy were prior to their movies.  And Iron Man, Black Panther and Ant Man were characters that I DID NOT like in the comics.  And now I love them all in the MCU.

So yeah, all you have to do is make good movies and people will come.
