Disney doesn't care about breaking even. They care about having a substantialROI. They also don't care about long game. They want as much money as fast as possible. If Disney wanted to slightly profit slowly they would invest the money in stocks and bondsI

If the break even point is $500m like the article suggests, then they stand to make at least $200m profit on Solo from it's theatrical release alone, even more once you take into account the DVD/Blu-ray/Digital release, streaming/tv rights deals, and merchandise (Solo movie themed toys). I'm sure they would have been happier if the movie made a bigger profit like the other 3 Disney Star wars movies made, but that was never going to happen after the budget was nearly doubled by the reshoots and after they chose to release in May, shortly after Avengers and Deadpool.

If every character based anthology movie can make the $700m+ at the box office that Solo will likely make, but with the smaller $125-150m budget that Solo was originally supposed to have before the reshoots, Disney stands to make a nice profit from the character focused anthology movies, especially if they start releasing more than 1 Star Wars movie a year, which they very likely will since they already have 5 Star Wars movies in development, with many more being planned and considered. Alot of the single character focused Marvel movies only gross in the $500m-900m range and Disney is happy with them.

You think this movie is going to hit 900m? It won't. It came lower to the worst projections
