XC2 is better than XCX imho. It still has some of the shortcomings of its predecessor, but at least it has a good plot and the combat system is more interesting and balanced. The game has it's fair share of issues though. Storytelling is just...terrible. Unless you like third rate animes, in that case you might even like it. Also, character design takes bad taste to new heights.
And then you have the typical issues of monolith soft games: a lot of uninteresting and repetitive side quests (fetch quests mainly), performance issues, focus on grinding and parameters in the end game rather than fight mechanics, overabundance of mechanics in general, some of which are redundant and have little usefulness and so on.
