I'm wondering how on Earth, the Death Note movie has anything to do with this thread.

Movie was a tragedy, and L was almost a highlight.

The character "L" seemed force for diversity reason imo. Completly different from the anime show.

I haven't seen the anime show, the fact that L was black didn't really seem anymore forced than if he was white or whatever. It was just a colour. The only thing that may seem forced about it was that it differs from the source material, but based on what I've heard, there is so much else in the movie that differs from the source material, so why you'd get hung up on the skin colour of L, I do not comprehend.

@OP, your argument would be aided a lot if you gave specific examples of movies or games or whatever where diversity came at the expense of the story. In most cases, it doesn't really matter. It's not like if you write a random character, the default of that character is white, heterosexual, and if (s)he's black or gay or whatever, then that's a change. Characters start out as a blank slate.

Those are the top grossing movies of 2018. What movies there had a detrimentally diverse cast in your opinion?
