No it didn't, it never even came close. o.O
The PS4's launch year was the closest WiiU ever got for December. For 4 weeks of december (up to 28th) PS4 sold 2.06m, WiiU sold 1.02m.
The next year the gap was even wider, PS4 - 2.9m, WiiU - 1.03m
