When the likes of COD hav 7-8 hours and its considered short then 5 hours falls into the same boat no two ways about, you can school players in many ways it still doesn't debunk that the single player is mainly for players to get acquainted with the unique mechanics.

Splatoon's single player is nothing to write home about so it having a single player doesn't really help your point especially as the vast majority of player don't bother with it right now your argument hinges on a what if scenario that Prime 4 can have both on equal level historically games in recent times have not managed that with the higher demands of development it's not as easily achieved as you say for a start Prime's design doesn't translate to MP well.

What exalty unique mechanics CoD has that needs singleplayer campaign of 7-8 hours!? :)

Players who care about singleplayer care about Splatoon campaign, and that doesnt relly matter, fact is that Splatoon with single player campaign is more appealing game in any case that it would whitout it. With MP4 online multiplayer would be same, probably majority of players wouldnt care about online multiplayer, but there would players that would care and game would be more appealing in any case.

You didn't read things properly that's in regards to Splatoon.

Players who care mainly about single player would hardly have Splatoon on their radar its single player campaign is 5 hours of walking the player through levels design to teach them to get used to the gameplay the vast majority of people do not buy it for single player, players who are into single player will be picking up games like BOTW, SMO, XBC2 etc... This is why your whole outlook is flawed, Metroid are a franchise is barely mid tier when it comes to commercial pull if you think that tacking on multiplayer will magically do wonders you're in for a massive shock and don't truly realised how the mainstream consumers think.

They wouldn't care that Metroid adds MP as they'll continue to get their fill from COD and BG as well other established franchises the first person genre as a whole is the most actively crowded right now it's like JRPGs in the late 90s and early 00s, the series doesn't even stand out in the genre to attract new players let alone have a tacked on mode attract people.
