I think the issue (at least with sony) is that tehre is no reason to drop the price. Its still selling about 1M consoles every month and these are the slow months. Same average its pretty much had since the start of the gen.And at this point its probably close to 80M sold, and most likely to cross 90M with the temporal fall season sales. 

When looking at hardware thats sold 90M in 5yrs and still selling well and whose only real competition at that time will be at at least 45M behind in sales.... it gets really hard justifying a price drop.

As for MS, I think they have already internally accepted that they have lost this gen and by now know there isn't much they can do to change the state of things, so in their case it makes very little sense dropping prices and bleeding money; their best play right now is to focus on making the XB1 as profitable as possible.

When PS4 reaches 90M it is more likely that X1 will be at 40 than 45M.
