Well, anyone who wanted NES VC games was going to buy most of those for the nth time anyway, so from their perspective, the online and some of the other games are basically found money at the price.
As far as whether the service is bad or not, it's a budget service at a budget price. I waste more money every week on coffee. And since I like playing Splatoon and MK8 online, I'll pony up the $26ish it'll cost me.
