Unfortunately not many people saw him perform live since he didn't tour much and mostly played smaller venues.  Also as far as I know he never toured overseas.  MJ had three massive world tours and probably could have done a couple more if he really wanted to.

Are you kidding me?

Touring and concerts were pretty much Prince‘s life. He loved to perform live and made most of his 300 million US$ with his tours.

Already in the 80s there were plenty of bootlegs of his shows. Here‘s a comprehensive list: http://4thefunk.com/

He was also famous for performing 2nd shows right after the main show on the same night or the next day.

Prince was an outstanding live musician and shouldn‘t be compared in that regard to dancer/performer Michael Jackson but to other outstanding live musicians of his own league, such as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye or James Brown (who also - like him - wrote, produced and recorded their own songs and albums).

Here are a few examples of his live performances (I especially recommend the last video where he plays the solo on the all-star tribute performance of George Harrison‘s While My Guitar Gently Weeps): http://stylecaster.com/prince-best-live-Performances

My bad, he did play overseas.  But what I said about him mostly playing smaller venues is true though.
