Well, there's some people who take it too far.  But in general it's not a bad thing.  

It is bad thing considering where it was always going to go. It's inherently authoritarian. Political correctness has nothing to do with being right or doing the right thing. It's just a tool with a positive PR label that's being used to control culture. This sort of thing is not an outlier type of situation, it's the norm. This is no different than toxic masculinity or "people of color" can't be racist.
