@bold: I firmly believe so too. There's no comparing the hit and miss nature of Mario Maker with the well thought out level designs and cohesion of the Nintendo developed 2D Marios.

Yeah, when researching for this topic, I was surprised at how close together both titles were. That certainly didn't help.
