As noted already, the native resolution of the Switch screen is 720 and hence it makes no sense to render it higher.  Technically, it could but you'd lose battery life.....which leads us to the other "$10" point.  Undocked means completely portable.  Can the Wii U version do that?

A bump in resolution.
A decrease in load times.
A portable experience.

For $10 more.

How can a 720p screen render higher than 720p? That doesn’t make sense to me.

Supersampling is rendering the game at a higher resolution than the display resolution, ps4 pro does it on 1080p TVs. You run the game at a higher resolution then shrink it down and you end up with better image quality.
