Unfortunately, because you didn't play Hellblade, that doesn't really make me feel better. Some people praised Hellblade's combat as well in very similar ways, and it was very not good. Knowing what I've played of Hellblade and how identical this looks to that, albeit way beefier, it's hard for me to be optimistic there. I can say though that a lot of what I hated was how stiff Hellblade was because of the camera, and though I really don't like the camera in this game, at least it appears as though you can freely manipulate it during combat. I think the retractable axe gimmick looks interesting, as well. |
God of War combat isn't anything like Hellblade combat, and the enemy variety is far superior. Its still a hack and slash game. I'm 20 hours in and the combat is better than every God of War game other than 3. I haven't unlocked all the upgrades.
You get the Blades of Chaos later in the game and has a similar moveset to the ones in previous games.

I really don't remember Horizon being THATTTT detailed ... but that's probably because I was so busy playing the sidequests and exploring the world, which all looked great but a tad flat. You guys are making me want to replay Horizon after GOW so I can compare |
Particle effects better in Horizon is false. If there is one thing GOW kills every game with its those particle effects. Infamous: Second Son has better particle effects than Horizon. God of War has the best of any game I've played. Character textures are better as well.

I loved Horizon and liked TLOU but I digress.
