It's hard as hell being a fan because of it. PS fans knew automatically that they would get an online service at least on par with Live on 360 with the next generation of consoles. Switch owners probably still won't get one. The Wii U was when they should have gotten it right, but the writing was on the wall with the 3DS. The Vita was an improvement over the PS3's PSN experience.
Now we can't even expect the basics to come in a reasonable time. It's probably best for third parties though. Nintendo's software is healthy on the system, but they'd definitely be making more if they sell their catalog again.
