Both Sony and Sega ripped off the N64 ideas. All they did was add another analog to the DS1 controller.. they also took the rumble feature at the same time. The industry standard dare i say is the conclave analog sticks where Xbox copied the DS1 design and placed them in what is considered the more popular decision. Radical change in placement of the stick and adding a second stick is a bit more revolutionary than making the top of a stick concave.

It has only revolutationized Playstation. No other brand uses there configuration.

Thank Nintendo for popularizing the analog controls. If Sony had that idea they would have brought out those sticks at launch. Its the exact same case many years later with the PS Move.
