It almost always becomes a huge mess when the topic of "who did what first" is brought up. For this specific case though? Both Sony and Sega ripped off the N64 ideas. All they did was add another analog to the DS1 controller.. they also took the rumble feature at the same time. The industry standard dare i say is the conclave analog sticks where Xbox copied the DS1 design and placed them in what is considered the more popular decision. To say Sony improved on the N64 design and made it standard for 20 years is no different to saying the Xbox controller did the exact same thing years after.

Radical change in placement of the stick and adding a second stick is a bit more revolutionary than making the top of a stick concave.
