I didn't SOT is exactly like COD but they have a lot in common especially the way they spread out play time by making you do the same thing over and over. I could also compare it to PUBG, Fortnite and the likes that are all multiplayer games where the goals are similar and the massive playtime is because of playing with friends, and the main fun is playing with friends but then anything is fun with friends. Even a mediocre game can be fun when playing with the right people.

They do not have a lot in common. Both games are drastically different. One is an open world pirate themed game, the other is a closed combat modern FPS shooting game, which revolves around only shooting other players, SoT doesn't revolve around just shooting other players before you start on that angle. 

So his comparison is invalid but yours is ok... please list the similarities between fighting games and GoW, that you seem to have already finished even before release.
