If Level-5 had said this in mid-2017, I'd have the same mentality as you since it was around that time when Japanese 3rd parties were convinced the Switch wouldn't fail and started allocating resources towards the platform. I think he said this now because Ni No Kuni 2 may have been the last title they had on the assembly line that was too far along in its development process to have a Switch version be considered.
