It’ll have been more than a year and thoughts of doubt of the Switch’s success should be less of an issue by then. Plus the power issue isn’t as crazy as the Wii vs. the HD twins and the only real gimmick of the Switch is the portability factor, which is huge in Japan. |
Don't hold your breath too much for that, people don't buy based off of future expectations, they buy what can be delivered today ...
People shouldn't go in blindly buying into Switch expecting 3rd party support to come their way because predicting the future can burn them so they should go in assuming that the platform won't get much 3rd party support or what isn't already promised now ...
PS4 isn't successful because of the promises but it's because of what it delivers now and continues to do so meaning it will keep being the most successful platform out of this generation. Sony uses that advantage to realize that most consumers are not like the few on the Switch who will hold out for a Switch port ...
As far as the portability factor there is actually a way to compete with that and that's by lowering the price so that Japanese customers won't find much to complain about their value for the usage they'll get out of a system for $200 or even $150 ... (PS4 should just be an easy to access platform with a low price point for the Japanese customers with high developer support)
